Falls are the principal cause of hospitalisation of the elderly. However, exercise is proven to help reduce the risk of falling by improving:
Our specialised exercise classes are aimed specifically at preventing falls and associated injuries in vulnerable older people. During the 36 week course, older exercisers build their strength and confidence in a mutually supportive and relaxed atmosphere while Jane, our instructor, closely monitors their progress.
Current clients cover a wide age and ability range, but everyone is encouraged to exercise at their own level and, above all, enjoy the class.
It is not all about hard work! After exercising, clients have plenty of opportunity to make new friends and socialise over healthy refreshments. Having completed the initial programme, some clients have opted to continue exercising together with a fun maintenance class that incorporates suitable activities including the use of a giant TV screen and Wii Fit equipment.
Since the launch of our classes in 2008, we have received very positive feedback from clients who have reported real lifestyle changes as a result of the programme.
These specialist classes are currently subsidised which means we are able to offer them at a low cost (£114.00 for a programme of 36 classes paid in 3 instalments of £38.00) .
